Scripture and a Snapshot

This scripture is not where I am right now, as much as it pains me to admit it.  I don't have a like-minded love for service, especially where we are sent to serve right now.  I know I need to work on it since I want the church to follow in these verses.  We've just finished up our first fundraiser for camp and it was a lot of work for the husband and I.  I did this work not because I love God, Jesus and their people, but because I did not want us to look bad.  So stop and re-evaluate!  I have been praying that God would change my motives and give me a heart for service.  I pray that our church would see this.  I pray they see how GREAT God is and be moved by God to love to serve as well. So this is my scripture and a snapshot.

Snow Day!!!!

Even in Texas we still get snow.

Our cotton fields need the moisture and everyone needs a bit of fun today.

The cats have already been outside checking it out and running back in to get warm!

There will be snowballs thrown when my poor husband comes home from church ... he can walk to work.

Just keeping it real...... this is my snow day hair!

Happy February First!  Back soon with some updates to our house!

Holiday Crazy

Somehow we were triply busy this holiday season.  My husband graduated from Seminary early December, we organized and hosted many youth fellowships and a fundraiser.  Then we decorated and made gifts for family members.  Finally we travelled to celebrate the season with family and on the way home got sidelined by a flat tire that took 4.5 hours to fix the Monday after Christmas.  So here are some of our pictures from this very busy but fun holiday season!

Where we've come from

Sometimes its difficult to be thankful.  Actually all the time its difficult to be thankful.  I'm thankful one moment and not the next.  We spent the last 9 months being ungrateful for living in Seminary housing and having the husband finish his masters of divinity.

In reality it was a clean, dry roof over our heads and we had plenty of food to eat.  God opened doors for the husband to finish all of his classes and work steady hours.  He gave us friends that I will never stop loving.  He let us live near people who went to our church  He allowed us to be with my sister when she gave birth to my twin nieces.  What blessings and we often only thing of the curses.

Now living here the husband and I are prone to look at the bad things.  The bathroom we have is small and shabby looking.  We are far away from conveniences that we are used to.  In reality we have so much to be thankful for this thanksgiving.  God gave us a church with housing and insurance.  We have a huge house!  No more 600 sq. foot apartment.  We get to go see our families in a few hours for thanksgiving.  (We know some of our friends who have to stay at seminary because their families are 10 hours away!)  We are healthy, we have food, we have each other.  Thank you God for all the good things we get to enjoy because of your grace and mercy.  Thank you for Jesus who gave us the greatest gift of all that continues to shape who we are even today.

Happy Thanksgiving folks!

We got the job and moved...

To us it has seemed like months of waiting and sending out resumes and praying.  Lots and lots of praying.  Now we are free from seminary and in our own little fishbowl in our own little town.  We knew things (and problems) would be different, but until we got here we could not even imagine them.  I want to use this space to write down memories, funny stories, and let people far away from us know we are ok.  Lets see how this goes.
